Report from Dreamforce (Salesforce.com Conference)

Posted by

Along with 18,000 others….I just came back from Salesforce’s annual love fest which they call Dreamforce.

The highlights of the conference were General Colin Powell’s keynote speech (which was surprisingly funny) and Salesforce’s embrace of social networking.

Salesforce has created a new cloud called The Collaboration Cloud (also called “Chatter”) to accompany the Sales Cloud, the Service Cloud, and the Custom Cloud (force.com).

Key to the collaboration cloud is the integration of Facebook and Twitter into the Sales and Services parts of Salesforce. The idea here is that by capturing what your customers and prospective customers are saying on these social networks you can better service them and sell to them.

Since it was first created in 1999 Salesforce has consistently set the standards for how to use technology to sell to new customers and service existing customers. I’m sure Salesforce is now seeing what others will begin to see in a year or two.

At Starrforce we’re just beginning to see the possibilities for how to leverage social networks in Salesforce. But we’re excited about the possibilities and look forward to helping clients implement this new capability.
